Compressed natural gas (CNG) is becoming more popular in the Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana areas. This is because it is significantly safer for the environment, it’s convenient, and it is cheaper than regular and diesel gas. These are few of many reasons why CNG is one of the fastest growing domestically grown resources in the country. 98% of compressed natural gas comes from the United States. So, CNG is always readily available to the public as well as commercial fleets.
Not only is compressed natural gas economically convenient, (creating 35,000 jobs for every 1% increase in CNG production), but it is incredibly safe for our environment. Switching over to compressed natural gas assures clean water and air for everyone. Oil spills and diesel accidents are very common. But, with CNG, up to 97% of carbon monoxide emissions are reduced in the air we breathe. And, because compressed natural gas is colorless, odorless, and nontoxic, it does not contaminate our groundwater.
