Recycling Education Program
Recycling Education Program
We’re dedicated to teaching the next generation about recycling and being good stewards of natural resources. Coloring books, activity pages, and videos train kids make good daily decisions about recycling. Our education staff also visits local classrooms to spread the word that “Basic Recycling is Better Recycling”.
In-Person Classroom Presentations

Class is in session! Our team of recycling experts is ready to visit your school to help educate students about the different ways they can help protect the environment. Our free program focuses on 1st – 6th grade students and addresses many of the state standards required for recycling education.
Presentations are generally about 45 minutes, but can be altered to fit individual schedules. Your classroom visit will include a PowerPoint presentation, a short video featuring our sorting facility and all of your recycling questions answered. Smaller groups (one or two classrooms at a time) are preferred as we find them more effective than large assemblies.

Thank you for the activity book. I liked it a lot. I’ve been recycling at home.
Thank you for coming to our school. I see Wendy once a week. I always wave to Wendy when Wendy leaves. I miss you. Thank you again.
Megan does a wonderful job explaining, answering questions, and involving students! My students were checking their water bottles for the recycling symbol and discussing which wrappers/papers were recyclable all day long. Thanks Megan!!

Wendy The Waste Truck – Your Recycling Mascot

Named for our founder, Wendell Yonker, Wendy the Waste Truck® was created to connect with local schools and community events. As one of the largest mascots in the country, he has helped establish our successful recycling education program and has become a sought after attraction at many local parades and other village activities.
