Guidelines for Dumpster Rental
Keep in mind that dumpsters have tonnage capacities and load limits. If you are disposing of especially heavy materials, make sure you let us know and we can advise you on your specific tonnage limitations. We pride ourselves in having some of the highest capacity dumpsters in the area. If you’re shopping around be sure you ask about tonnage limits, we think you’ll find our dumpsters hold the most material at a great price.
10 Yard Dumpster – Rental includes 3 tons of material
15 Yard Dumpster – Rental includes 3 tons of material
20 Yard Dumpster – Rental includes 4 tons of material
30 Yard Dumpster – Rental includes 5 tons of material in Illinois, 4 tons of material in Indiana
Any material weight within the dumpster over the limit will be charged at $70 per ton.
The Dumpster shall be placed on firm ground, preferably concrete. Homewood Disposal Service, Inc. will not be responsible for any property damage caused while placing or removing the dumpster.
For an added layer of protection, we recommend our customers put down 2×4’s, 2×6’s, 2×8’s or 3-4 sheets of plywood (supplied by customer) for the dumpster to rest on.
How much material? What kind of material? These are the two basic questions you need to answer before ordering a temporary dumpster. For example, 10 yard dumpsters are built to handle concrete and dirt.
The following materials are only allowed in a 10-yard dumpster:
Ceramic tile, brick, block, concrete, dirt, asphalt, sand, stone, and rocks.
No e-waste, such as tv’s, computers, printers, washers, dryers, and kitchen appliances.
No hazardous waste, oils, gases or chemicals.
No old car parts, such as car engines and rubber tires.
Please do not mix yard waste with other waste. It is important to keep these separate.
There is a $35 cost per mattress in the dumpster. Please let us know if you plan on throwing mattresses in the dumpster.
Shingles are strictly prohibited in a 30 yard dumpster.
When you load your dumpster keep in mind to load it level full, (or less) not over the top. Material above the dumpster can become a hazard to your job site and unsafe for our drivers to haul on the road. If you are loading heavy material, make sure the material weight is evenly distributed from side to side and front to back.
Payment is due before we can confirm orders. We accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express or e-check by phone.
Additional costs may apply for such things as, but not limited to:
-Failed attempt to retrieve or deliver a dumpster: $225.00.
-If there are prohibited items in the dumpster (listed on this page) there may be an additional costs.
If you need to open the back door of the dumpster, allow at least 6 feet between buildings and the dumpster. And make sure there is plenty of room for the driver to retrieve the dumpster when the job is wrapped up. An often overlooked aspect of dumpster rental is that the truck needs clearance from trees and wires above the drop off point. Lifting a dumpster takes some considerable height for trucks to deliver and retrieve.
-The Dumpster rental time period is 7 days. The dumpster will be automatically retrieved on the 7th day. Please keep in mind the container rental is day specific, not time specific. For example, if we delivered the dumpster at 1pm on a Wednesday, we might arrive at 9am the following Wednesday to pick it up.
-Additional days are available for $20.00 per day. We ask for a 1-day notice prior to delivery or pick up. We are available Monday – Friday.
-The dumpster may be picked up anytime on the scheduled day of pick up unless other arrangements are made.
-Don’t need a dumpster for all 7 days? No problem. Please let us know at least a day in advance so we can accurately schedule your pick up.
A temporary dumpster on private property rarely requires a permit. A dumpster placed on the street often requires village approval or permit. Contact your village to find out if a permit is required for your dumpster and for other instructions.
LEED projects (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) are projects designed to be environmentally friendly. Homewood Disposal Service has many years of disposal experience with LEED projects.
