Renting a dumpster for your next project can be a hassle-free process. Scheduling delays, overweight costs, and workplace hazards can make your cleanup project an expensive, long and tiresome process. We’ve collected some key rental tips from construction pros and our staff. Follow these best practices and recommendations to get the most out of your next dumpster rental.

When you’re all set, contact us for your project dumpster. No matter how big or small, a dumpster is available for your construction project. Remodeling, moving, clean out, demolition, and roofing projects are common uses for dumpster rental. Dumpster sizes range from 10 to 30 yards. If you’re not sure about the right size dumpster, our team will help you select the right size dumpster for your disposal needs. For a free quote, you can go online or call us at 708-798-2212.

Before arrival, make sure there is enough room for your dumpster. Clear vehicles and job site clutter out of the way before your dumpster delivery. It takes plenty of space (width and height) for trucks to deliver and unload your dumpster. Preparing space before dumpster delivery results in a safe and timely drop off of your dumpster.

Be aware of what is above the area where your dumpster is being dropped off. The drop area should be free of trees, overhead wires and cables. Having enough clearance above the area ensures that the delivery truck can drop off and retrieve easily.

Keep in mind, if you are using the back door of your dumpster, allow at least 6 feet of extra space. This gives room for the dumpster door to swing open, giving you full access to the inside of your dumpster. A fully open door makes disposing of your debris easier and more convenient.

For additional driveway protection, we recommend placing wood under the dumpster wheels and at the front of the dumpster. 2 sheets of plywood or 3 pieces of 2×6 lumber will work. Providing wood prevents possible damage to your driveway. Your driver will ensure the wood is adjusted properly.

It is important you do not load your dumpster more than level full. Too much trash in a dumpster becomes dangerous during transportation. For safety reasons, if there is an overflow of trash, your dumpster cannot be picked up. Keeping your dumpster filled at a reasonable level allows for safe transportation. If you plan on disposing of heavy materials like dirt, bricks and concrete there are transportation weight limits. To avoid the additional cost that may occur for an extremely heavy dumpster, talk to our staff for the appropriate size for your weighty project.

Load construction waste evenly throughout your dumpster container. If possible, break down construction waste that takes up a lot of space in your container. This ensures safety, and optimal use of space within your dumpster. Uneven weight distribution in your dumpster can cause the dumpster to unexpectedly shift during the retrieval or transport of the dumpster. This can be dangerous for your work site and for disposal employees.

To ensure safety of you, others, drivers, and workers, please do not dispose of any hazardous materials in your dumpster. Items such as medical waste, needles, propane tanks, bulbs, and other hard-to-handle items pose a serious risk to the well-being of the community and the environment.

DIY projects, demolition, clean up, and other projects require special attention to ensure safety. Protective eye-wear is a good idea to have when disposing of construction debris because wind often picks up dust and debris particles. Also, sturdy work gloves while disposing of construction waste prevents injury to your hands. Construction clean up gets messy; but, ensure your safety with these simple tips!
