How to unlock and lock your construction dumpster door
Here are easy step by step instructions for opening and closing two types of construction dumpster door.
LATCH-TYPE DUMPSTER
1. Remove the latch safety pin (if needed)
2. Remove the safety chain
3. Raise the lever
4. Open the door
5. Attached the door to the other side of the dumpster using the safety chain
RATCHET-TYPE DUMPSTER
1. Remove the safety chain
3. Flip the switch on the ratchet
4. Loosen the ratchet using two hands
5. When loose, unhook the chain from the ratchet
6. Open the door
7. Attached the door to the other side of the dumpster using the safety chain

Dumpster Tips & Resources
- There are limits to the weight a dumpster can hold. Weight maximums increase with the size of your dumpster. Please reference your quote, or ask our team for more details.
- Waste must remain level to the sides of the dumpster.
- If you need the back door of the dumpster to open, allow at least 6 feet between structures and the dumpster
- To reduce the risk of driveway damage, place wood prior to our arrival. 3 pieces of 2×6 lumber, or 2 sheets of plywood will work.
- Contact your village to find out if a permit is required for your dumpster.
- No e-waste, such as tv’s, computers, printers, washers, dryers, and kitchen appliances
- No hazardous waste, oils, gases or chemicals
- No old car parts, such as car engines and rubber tires
- Please do not mix yard waste with other waste. It is important to keep these separate.
