Earth Day with Tinley Park Students
It’s Earth Day again! This year the Fulton School Earth Angels Club in Tinley Park invited us to stop and teach them about recycling. These kids are passionate about recycling! We caught up with them on pajama day and listened to what they had to say.
Homewood Disposal is committed to protecting the environment. Teaching the next generation about the importance of recycling is an important aspect of this commitment. We visit schools throughout the year and encourage youth in celebrating Earth Day. Our kid-friendly mascot, Wendy the Waste Truck, spreads the news about recycling at local events and parades.
And we know a ton about recycling. We have been providing residential recycling since 1990, and today process an average more than 600 tons of materials in our state-of-the-art Material Recovery Facility. We also welcome groups to our facility and classroom for on-site field trips. Our environmental commitment goes beyond recycling. Our refuse trucks run on compressed natural gas, or CNG, a clean burning fuel. We have also established two CNG stations that are open to the public.
Caring for the world we work and live in takes a commitment to stewardship. For Homewood Disposal, that commitment involves operating with the goals of environmental responsibility, utilizing clean energy to reduce our carbon footprint, and educating the public on the benefits of recycling.
