30 yard construction dumpsterOur 30 yard dumpster dimensions measure 17 feet long, 7 feet wide and 6 feet high. Although the exact measurements may vary based on the dumpster manufacturer, the capacity and volume of the 30 yard dumpster will be the same.

When you rent a 30 yard dumpster, the rental includes the disposal of 5 tons (10,000 pounds) of material.  It’s a lot of weight and it’s very rare that customers surpass 5 tons of material within their dumpster. Again, we do not charge extra for any weight under 5 tons within a 30 yard dumpster. Heads up, the state of Indiana has some different rules, and 30 yard dumpster weight limit is 4 tons (8,000 pounds) in Indiana.

Here’s another way to think about it, a 30 yard dumpster can hold the same amount of material as about 9 pickup trucks. That’s about 170 – 190 33-gallon trash bags. Furniture, roofing shingles, carpet, cabinets, construction debris and all other general waste are accepted in the 30 yard dumpster. Concrete, bricks, dirt, shingles are not accepted within our 30 yard dumpsters. Their weight at that volume makes the dumpsters incredibly heavy. Hazardous waste is not accepted in any of our dumpsters.

The word “Yard” in 30 yard dumpster refers to one cubic yard of area. It’s an industry standard used to reference the size of large waste containers. You can also think of 1 cubic yard as 3 feet x 3 feet x 3 feet.

A ton is 2000 pounds. What does a ton of waste look like? For example, a sheet of drywall that is 4′ x 8′ and 1/2″ thick, weighs about 52 pounds. So 38 sheets of drywall would weigh about a ton. Dumpsters contain a lot of waste. But, be sure your material remains below the top of the dumpster. When garbage is piled too high, it makes it difficult for the truck to secure the load. This poses a risk to others because debris could fall out of the dumpster during transport. Material stacked above the fill line can also slide off or, be blown off in the wind onsite. This poses a risk to you and your clean-up crew.
