Public CNG Fueling Station Open in Gary, Indiana
Fast Fill Fueling Open to Everyone with a Compressed Natural Gas Powered Vehicle
Caring for the Environment is No New Concept for Homewood Disposal
Homewood Disposal run a Compressed natural gas (CNG) station that is open to the public. Anyone that has a CNG powered vehicle can use the customer-friendly station to fill up with CNG fuel. CNG is an alternative fuel which can be used in place of gasoline and diesel fuel. Environmentally friendly, compressed natural gas is being used as an alternative fuel for several reasons; It is safer for the environment because it emits nearly 90% fewer emissions than gasoline and in the event of a spill, it disperses quickly into the air. Trucks that run on CNG are quieter driving down streets and highways. And compressed natural gas consists of mostly methane, so it is odorless, colorless, and non-toxic.
A Tradition of Environmental Care
A commitment to environmental stewardship has been passed down through the generations at Homewood Disposal. After excelling in the areas of recycling and waste disposal, taking advantage of CNG as a fuel source was another logical “green” choice. CNG is cleaner burning than diesel and gasoline, leaving the air cleaner for the next generation. For several years Homewood has been using CNG fuel for our fleet of garbage trucks.
