Tinley Park Electronic Recycling

Out with the old, in with the new!  Are you a Tinley Park resident who needs to dispose of old electronics?  Since the state of Illinois banned the disposal of electronics in landfills, garbage trucks are passing by the TVs and computers left at the curb. It’s the law. Whether you have televisions, laptops, printers or any other electronics, Homewood Disposal Service can properly take them off your hands and recycle them. The process is simple and has only two steps.  First, request a pick-up online by clicking the blue button on this page.  Once your request has been sent, place your e-waste (electronics) curbside next to your garbage cart.  A separate waste truck, specifically for electronics, will stop by on the same day as your regular trash pick up to collect and safely recycle your electronics.

Why Can’t I Dispose of My Electronics Curbside?

In 2012, the state of Illinois imposed the Electronic Products Recycling and Reuse Act that banned many electronics from landfills as these products contain hazardous material.  According to the ELPC, “These products [electronics] contain toxic materials such as lead, mercury, arsenic, cadmium and beryllium.”  Incorrectly disposing toxic materials causes chemicals to contaminate the environment.  As a result, the toxins contaminate our food, waster, and other natural resources.
